Dinghy Pirate sessions have been organised again this year for children who wish to learn to sail, following the RYA Stage 1 and Stage 2 programmes.
For those who have already had some sailing experience, improver sessions on Saturday afternoons will be held starting in early May going on into June, after which they may graduate to be Buccaneers.
Sessions for total beginners will be held on Saturday afternoons later in the season when the water is warmer, and wind usually lighter.
The Buccaneer Race Squad starts training on in April and is active throughout the year - and if there isn’t Buccaneers they can join in the club racing on Sunday mornings.
The Club, having decided to change the basis of charging for Pirates and Buccaneers sessions this season. In future, sessions will be free to Club members. This will mean that children whose parents are not Club members, will have to join the Club either as Junior Members in their own right (£30) and then can join in any sessions or as Pirate Members. Pirates members are £20 for a 5 or 6 session training course.
Special Junior Membership forms should be downloaded or obtained from, and returned to, the Membership Secretary as normal. This should ease the administration on training days, ensure insurance cover since we are now starting to take children to races at other Clubs, and fulfil all health and safety requirements.
