Sailing Courses
As an RYA Training Centre we are pleased to be able to offer a variety of training
courses for all ages and experiences whether new to sailing or brushing up/improving existing skills and for members and non-members.
Adult Courses
New to Sailing
We offer courses with a variety of formats to suit the differing needs of people's diaries, each course has a total of 12 hours tuition, a maximum of 6 people to an instructor and are available to non-members.
These cover the
basics of rigging a boat, getting out on the water, sailing a triangular
course and getting back into shore. Everything required to be able to sail a
boat independently and leads to an RYA Level 1 qualification. The courses available are:
Weekend Courses are held over two full days of one weekend. In 2012 the dates are: 26th/27th May; 23rd/24th June; 28th/29th July and 22nd/23rd September.
Evening Courses are held over six Wednesday evenings between 6.30 to 8.30pm. The first for 2012 will be commencing 23rd May.
Ladies Only Courses are held over four Monday mornings from 9.30am to 12.30pm. The first for 2012 will be commencing 11th June.
Afternoon Courses are held over four Monday afternoons from 1.00 to 4.00pm. The first for 2012 will be commencing 11th June.
Saturday Morning Courses are held over four Saturdays from 9.00am to 12 noon. The first for 2012 will be commencing 9th June.
These are the initial dates but more will be scheduled in dependent on demand.
As an added benefit there is also a reduction in Priory Sailing Club membership fees for course participants who then decide to continue their sailing by joining the club.

Improver courses
These are available to members for RYA Level 3 and specialisms such as Spinnaker
sailing and Race qualifications. In addition there are also First Aid,
Child Protection, Power Boat, Assistant Instructor, Dinghy Instructor and
Race Coach courses available for Priory Sailing Club members.

Powerboat training courses
An RYA safety boat course will be held in the middle of the year to
continue the development of members' skills.
The courses are free to members who volunteer for rescue boat duty and
then you do not have to do an OOD. Many families do rescue boat duty
together, husband and wife, dad and daughter, mum and son - any and all
combinations.

Sailboard courses
PSC is reinstating the Windsurfing activities after a number of months absence.
The growing interest in this activity has resulted in new training courses being planned.
