Dinghy Buccaneers
Dinghy Buccaneers is for Junior sailors who have passed RYA Stage 1 & 2 and are seeking new challenges and to
enhance their sailing skills.
Buccaneers training is run on most Sunday afternoons between April and October.
Centred on a racing theme, these sessions are instructive and yet fun, with a broad mixture of boat control,
racing techniques and racing rules covered during the season. The Buccaneers is an opportunity for Juniors to mix with
others of a similar standard and share a semi-structured learning environment.
Buccaneers are encouraged (as their skills develop) to participate in the Sunday morning ‘all comers’ racing and/or
in the more relaxed Lazy Sunday afternoon racing, which is for those who are interested in racing and want to develop
both their confidence and experience. Typical dinghies used in Buccaneers are Toppers and/or Picos.
Buccaneers sessions are free to Club members. Children whose parents are not Club members will be required to
join as Junior Members and then can join in any of the Junior sessions throughout the year.
Junior Membership forms can be downloaded, or obtained from and returned to, the Membership Secretary Tony Ogborn.
